Teachers

Hulya Kablan – Beehive Science & Technology Academy
Hulya was born in Turkey, and she was the first person in her family to go to college. She taught biology in Turkey, and moved to Utah in 2007.  She started volunteering with refugees to help them find jobs, register at schools, and tutored the children.

Mrs. Kablan has been teaching Integrated Science, Honors Biology, Advanced Placement Biology, Turkish as a foreign language and Character Education at Beehive Science & Technology Academy since 2011.

Mrs. Kablan has been recognized for her use of virtual reality in the classroom, and mentors students after regular school hours.

As a woman and minority in science, Mrs. Kablan serves as a role model for female students to pursue higher education, especially in a STEM related career. She strongly believes that the world will be a better place through education.

Annette Stewart - Jordan Ridge Elementary School
As a young child, Annette Stewart always wanted to be a teacher.  She followed that dream and has taught in the Jordan District for 38 years.  Thirty-one of those years have been at Jordan Ridge Elementary teaching 5th grade.  Although the approach for teaching children continues to change, her love for children has not.  They are the center and the heart of what she does.

Along with teaching math, science and other subjects, she works to share her love of country, integrating American History into the curriculum, underlining patriotism and respect for others.

The Utah Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) recently awarded Annette as the VFW Teacher of the Year. She received the award for her dedication to promoting Americanism and patriotism in the classroom.

Melinda Mansouri – Jordan Academy for Technical and Careers, South
Melinda Mansouri is being recognized as the Utah Association for Career and Technical Education Teacher of the year for her outstanding teaching and development for Web Design. Melinda was the original author on the Advanced Website Creation Curriculum for Utah, developing courses in web design,  Mobile App Development, and Game Development.  Melinda teaches her students the value of community service and leadership. She is a great example of a teacher who inspires her students to be their best.

Melinda Mansouri is creative, innovative, and goal oriented. She enjoys design work and solving problems using technology. She has been teaching for 23 years for Jordan School District.  Her hobbies include writing children’s books, painting, sewing, dancing, traveling, digital scrap booking, cooking, entertaining, and reading. She recently celebrated her 16th wedding anniversary, and has three children Hope 12, Max 10, and Ty 9.
